Hair extensions have now become a popular fashion statement for various people. Women as well as men are bombarding salons to get hair extensions done to their hair. It is however very important to get the right type of hair extension done to your hair. If the method goes wrong serious damage can come to your tresses. Therefore, it is very important to choose the right salon and a good professional for the work if you want those beautiful perfectlocks.
There are two types of hair extensions, one the synthetic type which is easy to manage but does not blend well with the hair quite often. The other type is human hair extension; this blends well with the hair but is a more expensive option.
Remy hair extensions are available only with the human hair method. Remy hair is that hair where the cuticle is still intact and therefore the hair does not tangle and can be termed as 100% natural human hair. Remy hair extensions add length, volume and color to the original hair.
There are different application methods for Remy hair extensions:
1. Heat fusion- Strand by strand
This process is carried out by using heated adhesive sticks or glue made specially for hair extension and attaching strand by strand to your original hair. This method has a durability of 3 to 6 months if applied and taken care of properly. The application takes around an hour. Fusion hair extensions make the strands almost indistinguishable from your natural hair, perfectlocks!
2. Clip-in and clip on method
This technique is the least permanent and most convenient to use. They can be clipped on by the consumer without much hassle. Clipped in extensions may add temporary color.
3. Track and sew method
This is a long lasting method of integrating wefts. The tracks are usually divisions made on the head according to the style of the hair. The wefts are then sewn into braids with a specially made blunt needle. The needle may be straight or curved. The process is a long one was gives satisfying results.
4. Indian hair netting
This method requires the hair to be braided under a thin breathable net that lays flat on a surface that stylists weave the extensions onto. This type of an installation can last unto three weeks but it is very important to note that when this kind of hair is washed they must be dried well in order for the extensions to function properly.
5. Bonding with pre-tipped hair
This is by far the easiest method for a more permanent Remy hair installation. Bonding glue is applied onto the weft of the extension hair and then applied to the root of the hair. They last at least eight weeks. Some perfectlocks customers have had them in for over 6 months without any issues whatsoever.
